TRAID Center at AccessCNY

  • The TRAID Center is AccessCNY’s assistive technology lending library whose mission is to increase access to AT and DME such as wheelchairs, walkers, and augmentative communication devices. TRAID provides short-term equipment loans at no cost to families.

ARISE Medical Equipment Loan Closet

  • The Medical Equipment Loan Closet at ARISE offers a wide array of AT for families to borrow for free on a short-term basis. Borrowing equipment can help you select the best option before purchasing your own. It also fills the gap during temporary periods of need.

Adirondack Regional Technology Center

  • The Adirondack Regional Technology Center at SUNY Plattsburgh provides assistive technology resources in the North Country. Services seek to enable persons with physical and/or cognitive disabilities to choose, acquire, and use appropriate assistive technology that advances their individual interests and independent functioning.

AIM Independent Living Center

  • Counties served: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben

  • AIM's TRAID Center operates to demonstrate devices, coordinate local technology information and referral, implement outreach, public awareness, education and training programs, promote local advocacy; operate an early intervention assistive technology loan library, and maintain loan closets. AIM currently maintains two loan closets.

Female Charitable Society of Baldwinsville Medical Equipment Loan Closet

“Neighbors helping neighbors…”

  • Counties served: Onondaga

  • The Medical Equipment Loan Closet via the Female Charitable Society of Baldwinsville offers more than 2,000 pieces of medical equipment from 32 different categories. Any person living in the Baldwinsville School District may borrow the equipment free of charge for as long as they need it.

Genesee-Finger Lakes TRAID Center

  • Counties served: Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Seneca, Wayne, Yates

  • The Regional Center for Independent Living provides people in the Rochester area with assistive technology through loans, demonstrations, training, and referrals among other services. RCIL is often able to provide non-assistive technology items such as donated furniture and other household supplies to people who need them as well.

Southern Tier Independence Center

  • Counties served: Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, Tioga

  • The Southern Tier Independent Living Center (STIC) operates the Revolving Door Loan Closet, which provides equipment to people with disabilities. STIC has a sensory room on site which utilizes a variety of assistive technology. STIC also operates Xscapes rooms several nights a month for community members.

Upstate Cerebral Palsy TRAID RTC

  • Counties served: Fulton, Hamilton, Herkimer, Jefferson, Lewis, Montgomery, Oneida

  • The TRAID center at Upstate Cerebral Palsy provides services related to assistive technology including loans, demonstrations, and referrals for funding and other resources. Their extensive library of over 3,000 devices provides innumerable options for individuals to borrow and try.

Wonderful Wheelchairs

  • Counties served: Tompkins

  • Wonderful Wheelchairs is a volunteer-based, non-profit organization that seeks to help members of the community gain access to mobility equipment. We happily accept donations of unneeded, or unused manual and power wheelchairs and walkers, and our staff of volunteers (consisting of retired engineers, occupational therapists, electricians and more) work to refurbish, clean, restore and fix up those donations to working and useable chairs.

  • Wonderful Wheelchairs then provides the equipment at a reduced cost and make repairs and adjustments to individuals existing wheelchairs and walkers. On average, our charge for manual chairs is approximately from $50-100, power chairs from about $200-$400, and walkers vary from no cost to $25.
